VALE Mike van Nugteren

It is with sadness we inform the ExECS Community that Mike, the Senior Hockey Coach at ELTHAM College, passed away at home last night.  Mike came home from hospital Monday to spend his time with Pam and their daughters Jess and Kat.

He was a man who has had an extraordinary influence on the lives of many young people:  his standard was excellence in the ELTHAM tradition of “your personal best” and many of his charges have gone onto State and National hockey teams with one now in the National women’s team and two current Year 10’s in the Victorian State team.  He never discriminated and worked to bring out the best in everyone with whom he worked.  We send the love and support of the ELTHAM Community, particularly Friends of Hockey and our present and past hockey players, to Pam, Jess and Kat.

Mike’s funeral will be held at Xavier Chapel, Barkers Road, Kew at 2pm on Tuesday 22 June.

Towards the end of next week, there will be a memorial service for Mike at the College.  Please call Reception on 9437 1421 for details.
